The number on a salvia extract tells you how much stronger it is meant to be than plain dried leaf: Avalon Magic Plants describes its 5X as five times the strength of ordinary leaves, its 10X as ten times, and so on. Higher numbers do not make the trip longer. They make it go further, from a sideways pull in a room you still recognise to the complete loss of room and body described in the reports by strength.
This guide follows the shop's own product descriptions, checked on 11 October 2026. It is meant for adults who are in the Netherlands, where salvia is legal; see the law below.
The steps, from mild to strong
| Step | Product | Salvinorin A, per the shop | How the shop describes it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Dried leaves | not stated | Smoked in a pipe; "the most common method" |
| 2 | 5X extract | 18 mg per gram | Five times the strength of ordinary leaves |
| 3 | 10X extract | 36 mg per gram | Ten times as potent as dried leaves, for experienced users |
| 4 | 15X extract | not stated | Fifteen times as potent as dried leaves |
| 5 | 20X extract | 72 mg per gram | Very powerful; for experienced salvia users only |
| 6 | 40X extract | 144 mg per gram | Experienced users only, with a sober trip sitter |
| 7 | 80X extract | 288 mg per gram | The shop's strongest; not suitable for beginners |
The salvinorin A figures for 10X come from the shop's description of its 3-pack; the others are on each product page. For scale: in the Barcelona laboratory study, the highest vaporised dose, 1 mg of pure salvinorin A, led to a sense of complete loss of contact with the body (Maqueda et al., 2015). The amounts involved are very small, which is why the shop's 40X and 80X pages talk in hundredths of a gram.
Which step suits whom
Never used salvia. Start at step 1. Dried leaf, smoked or held in the mouth as a quid, gives the typical pull and sliding without, as a rule, taking the room away. It shows how your body reacts before anything stronger. The composite leaf quid and smoked leaf reports show this level.
Tried leaves, want to see more. The 5X is the first extract step. In reports at this level, the room folds and layers but tends to stay recognisable for at least part of the time.
Familiar with salvia. The shop places its 10X, 15X and 20X with experienced users. Reports here describe leaving the room: becoming part of a surface, a familiar cartoon-like place, presences. A sober sitter is not optional at this level.

Experienced, and sure about it. The 40X and 80X are, in the shop's words, for experienced users only, used in a calm environment with a sober trip sitter present. Composite reports at this level often have almost nothing to tell, because there was no one left to experience it.
Packs
Two packs combine products. The Salvia 3 Package Deal holds 1 gram of 10X, 1 gram of 20X and half a gram of 30X, which the shop presents as a way to build up experience with increasing strengths. The Enjoy Salvia Pack contains 1 gram of 20X with a metal pipe and a torch lighter; the shop notes that the 20X is powerful and intended for experienced users, used with a sober trip sitter.

Before the first session
Whatever the strength: one dose per session, lying or sitting low, a quiet room without hard or hot objects in reach, no alcohol or other substances, and a sober sitter who keeps the lighter. The peak arrives around two minutes after inhaling (Johnson et al., 2011), so do not judge the strength by the first half minute. The difficult trips page shows what tends to happen when these basics are skipped.
